I’ve been obsessed with the song “La Noyee” by Yann Tiersen ever since I saw the movie Amelie over 10 years ago. La Noyee’s fast pace, off beats, and tension drew me into trying to reverse engineer it and play it as accurately as possible on my accordion.
Judging by the dozens of other accordion covers on YouTube, I’m not alone in feeling this way! Yann Tiersen’s work is a magnet for accordion players.
At the top of this post is my own version of La Noyee, learned by ear and as authentic to the original as it gets. I plan to do a duet version with myself eventually to take it to the next level, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere. Enjoy!
La Noyee (Yann Tiersen) Cover Production Notes:
This video was filmed with my iPad Air and my GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition (using my homemade removable GoPro instrument mount). The audio was recorded using my CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone. This was done in one take… No funny monkey business with the video or audio. The audio is totally raw with no modifications or enhancements whatsoever.
